🔧 About the Tools
How do GiftClosure's tools work?+
GiftClosure provides three independent tools that work best as a workflow: Tool A (Relationship-Budget Matrix) takes your relationship type and budget range and generates 3 gift direction suggestions. Tool B (Exclusion Filter) lets you exclude up to 5 gift categories you want to avoid. Tool C (Timing Checker) evaluates your gift date, the recipient's current life situation, and the occasion — giving you a green, yellow, or red signal with personalized advice. All processing happens locally in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
Can I use the tools independently?+
Yes. Each tool works as a standalone tool. Tool A generates gift directions. Tool B filters out unwanted categories. Tool C checks your timing. However, they are designed to work together for the best experience: start with Tool A to find directions, use Tool B to refine, and verify with Tool C.
What relationship types are available?+
We currently support 9 relationship types: Spouse/Partner, Parent, Child, Sibling, Close Friend, Coworker, Boss/Manager, Date/Romantic Interest, and Acquaintance. Each has unique gift direction sets across all 5 budget tiers, from under $25 to over $200.
What budget ranges do you support?+
There are 5 budget tiers: Under $25, $25–$50, $50–$100, $100–$200, and Over $200. If your budget falls between two ranges, we recommend checking both to compare suggestions.
How does the Timing Checker determine signals?+
The Timing Checker evaluates three factors: (1) how many days until the gift date (or if it has passed), (2) the recipient's current life status (stressed, celebrating, grieving, etc.), and (3) the selected occasion. It combines these into a green/yellow/red signal with tailored advice for your specific situation.
🛡️ Neutrality & Affiliate Policy
Does GiftClosure recommend specific products?+
No. GiftClosure only outputs gift directions — categories like "Home & Decor," "Experiences," or "Wellness & Self-care" — along with example descriptions of the type of gift. We never mention specific brand names, product SKUs, retailer names, or pricing from specific stores. Our goal is to inspire your own search, not to direct you to any particular product or seller.
Do you earn money from affiliate links?+
No. GiftClosure does not participate in any affiliate marketing programs. We do not earn commissions, referral fees, or any other compensation from product purchases. The website contains no affiliate links, sponsored content, or paid product placements. Our "No Affiliate Links" policy is stated on every page of the site and in our footer.
How is GiftClosure funded?+
GiftClosure is a passion project developed independently. It does not display advertising, accept sponsorships, or participate in affiliate programs. Our commitment is to remain completely neutral so you can trust that our gift direction suggestions are not influenced by any commercial relationships.
Can brands or retailers pay to be featured?+
No. We do not accept payment for placement, sponsored suggestions, or featured categories. Every gift direction in our matrix is chosen based on the relationship type and budget — not on commercial considerations. This neutrality is the core value of GiftClosure.
🔒 Privacy & Data
What data does GiftClosure collect?+
We collect no personal data. All tool inputs — relationship types, budget ranges, dates, recipient status, and exclusion selections — are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No information is transmitted to our servers. We do not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, or third-party data collectors.
Do you use cookies?+
We use a single cookie to store your cookie consent preference (accepted or declined). This cookie is strictly necessary for the website to function and does not track your activity. You can decline the cookie and still use all tools normally. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies of any kind.
Do you share my information with third parties?+
No. Since we collect no personal data, there is nothing to share. We do not sell, trade, or transfer any information to third parties. Your use of GiftClosure is completely private.
💡 Using the Gift Directions
What should I do with the gift direction suggestions?+
After receiving your gift directions (e.g., "A cooking class for two"), use them as inspiration for your own shopping. Search for local cooking classes, check review sites, or ask friends for recommendations. The direction tells you what to look for — you decide the specific product or service that fits your recipient best.
How many suggestions does each tool generate?+
Tool A (Relationship-Budget Matrix) always generates 3 gift directions per query. Tool B (Exclusion Filter) refines those suggestions based on your excluded categories, so the number varies. Tool C (Timing Checker) provides a signal light and detailed advice rather than specific directions.
Can I save or share my results?+
Currently, results are displayed on screen and not saved server-side (since nothing leaves your browser). You can take a screenshot, copy the text, or bookmark the page with your parameters. We recommend noting your favorite directions before navigating away.
What if none of the suggestions feel right?+
Try adjusting your inputs. Change the relationship type (e.g., "Close Friend" vs. "Acquaintance"), move up or down a budget tier, or use the Exclusion Filter to remove categories that don't fit. The combination of 9 relationships × 5 budgets × multiple categories produces many possible outcomes — try different combinations.
